The course is open to seafarers who will be appointed in charge of medical care aboard ships. Those who enter the course must have successfully completed medical first aid training aboard the vessel. As specified in the model course IMO 1.14 medical first aid. This course is available to people active sea, wishing to serve as deck officers or captain, as for Heads of machines, which are to be employed or merchant vessels sailing in international waters. Participants must have a bachelor’s Deck Officer or Captain or Chief Engineer degree, must have passed the Basic First Aid course and a certificate of good health.
