Students who wish to take this course must have a minimum of six months experience in guards as an officer in charge of the navigation watch and must also have completed a training course that meets or exceeds the standards established in resolution A. 483 (XII) of the IMO, entitled Training in observation and radar pointing techniques, however, participants must possess a certificate of good health. (See course model 1.07)
